Motion Graphics for Fundraiser Campaigns:
Uplifting Girls’ Education in Rural India
Overview
When motion, story, and purpose come together, they create change. That was the aim behind a special fundraiser video created for the centenary celebrations of Shreemati Dadibai Deshmukh Hindu Mulinchi Shala in Nagpur. This all-girls Marathi medium school has been shaping futures since 1923, and the fundraiser video combined motion graphics and compelling storytelling to raise awareness and donations.
The Story Behind the School’s Journey
The school was started almost 100 years ago when Lokmanya Tilak sent two women teachers—Yamutai Kelkar and Sundarabai Sane to Nagpur, supported by Dadasaheb Ogale. Despite early setbacks, including the passing of Yamutai, Sundarabai went door to door to bring students in, raised funds, and steered the school’s early growth. From just five students, it has grown to a strength of about 2,500 today.
Located just meters from Gandhi Gate in the heart of Nagpur, the school welcomes girls from all walks of life, especially those from poor backgrounds. Over the decades, it evolved to include semi-English instruction, computer labs, free uniforms, and coaching for students whose home environments aren’t conducive to study.
The Fundraiser Video: A Poem in Motion
At Creative Splash, we approached the fundraiser video for Shreemati Dadibai Deshmukh Hindu Mulinchi Shala intending to create something that was emotionally powerful yet visually simple. We began by writing a heartfelt poem in Hindi. Choosing Hindi was deliberate. While Marathi is the local language, Hindi allowed us to connect with a broader audience across India. We wanted the message to travel beyond Nagpur and reach anyone who believes in the power of education for girls.

The video was conceptualized to stay under 1 minute and 30 seconds. This decision was based on audience behavior data, which shows that most viewers tend to drop off after 60 to 90 seconds unless the story is emotionally compelling and tightly edited. The challenge, then, was to say everything with impact within that short span.

We opted for a muted pastel color palette throughout the video, starting with deeper, desaturated tones to reflect the struggles and challenges faced by girls from rural communities. As the narrative progressed, we gradually introduced brighter hues to symbolize hope, opportunity, and transformation. This subtle transition in tone was designed to mirror the emotional arc of the story, from hardship to empowerment.

In terms of visual design, we made a conscious choice to keep the illustrations minimal. Instead of hyper-detailed artwork, we focused on clear shapes and icons that would not overpower the narrative. Our goal was simple: let the message speak louder than the medium. We designed characters and backgrounds using paper texture symbolises school, ensuring that each element complemented the voiceover rather than distracting from it.

Animation was driven primarily by smooth motion graphics and well-timed transitions. We used slow pans and subtle zoom-ins to guide the viewer's attention without rushing them.

One of the most emotionally resonant sections involved a simple slideshow of real-life classroom photos. We animated this with a gentle crossfade effect and soft parallax motion, giving static images a sense of breath and presence. These were intercut with animated vignettes, illustrations of girls studying, playing outside, coming to the school, etc.

Ambient sound played a huge role in setting the mood. The base audio track included soft instrumental music to evoke a sense of being in the school itself. The voiceover, recorded in-house, was delivered in a warm, emotionally rooted tone, designed to resonate with parents, educators, and CSR donors alike.

The result was a short motion graphic film that felt intimate and powerful. It avoided the cliché of charity ads and instead celebrated a century of quiet, determined progress. Through illustration, typography, transitions, and sound, we aimed to create something viewers wouldn’t just watch, but feel.
Impact & Results
The motion graphic fundraiser video created a deep emotional impact among viewers. It achieved strong viewer engagement, with a majority of the audience watching the video till the very end, an encouraging sign for content in the charity and education space. The video circulated widely across social platforms, donor networks, and educational communities, helping raise awareness and build a sense of connection with the cause.
As the video gained traction, it sparked heartfelt responses and generous contributions. The school’s fundraising campaign not only met its initial target but went beyond expectations, allowing it to support a greater number of students than originally planned.
